Denny Bixby is an artist in the truest sense, in that he is always evolving in the ways of musical expression. Since returning to Portland, Oregon after almost 18 years living near Nashville and playing around the planet with a half-dozen Grammy-winning artists, he is up to his old tricks and then some. He continues to play in Rodney Crowell's electric band. In Portland, in addition to working in various combos as bassist and harmony vocalist with respected singer/songwriters John Bunzow and Jack McMahon, blues and R&B legend Lloyd Jones, Quarterflash and others, he has started two bands. The Rockets, which features Lloyd Jones, Jon Koonce and Albert Reda, allows Denny to switch between bass and guitar and showcases the prodigious talents of all four members. His trio, DB3, puts Denny full-time on guitar and lead vocal, playing music by some of the greats he has worked with including Buddy Miller, Rodney Crowell, Will Kimbrough and others, as well as his own original songs. The band also includes Jon Koonce on drums and Albert Reda on bass.
On October 9th Denny was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame, where he was in the company of numerous others with whom he has worked for years playing music of many genres. Don’t miss opportunities to see him in and around Portland—especially with his own trio, which sheds new light on the range and depth of Denny’s talent and spirit, showcased like never before in his songs and voice.

“Denny is an incredible musician, and he sings like an angel. I was lucky to have him in my band.” --Buddy Miller—
“Anybody who knows Denny or has seen him play gets the positive energy he emits. I always feel like there’s more life on stage when he’s with me. He is a wonderful musician and his voice blows me away. He’s my brother and I love him.” --Suzy Bogguss--
